Anything you need to do in the kitchen, there is an app for that, sometimes two. Appliances are must haves, gadgets that make us feel like wonderful cooks, the latest in time saving devices.
The last time I moved, I bought some open shelves for my kitchen to store (and yes, display) my appliances.
To make bread, I have the Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I also have a bread maker, both will mix and knead dough. Egg whites can be done with the hand mixer or the stand mixer, both of which will do cake batter and icing. I have a large electric griddle that will do pancakes and bacon and eggs, or steaks or pork chops if I have a lot of people to feed, and a grill that can also put nice seared lines on meat.
To chop, I have a mini food processor, a large food processor, and a blender. I have these because I am afraid of my chef's knife. Oh, yes, I also have an immersion blender.
The first feature I look for when selecting an appliance is red, to match the red and which colour scheme of my kitchen. Vanity is alive and well in my kitchen.
I have to admit that I don't use any of my appliances as much as I thought I would because there is one kitchen appliance I don't have and that's a dishwasher. As much as I am afraid of my chef's knife, I will use it to slice carrots before I will pull out the food processor, insert the slicing disk, and run the carrots through it.
The simple fact is, washing the chef's knife takes much less time than washing the food processor. I would rather take a bit more time to chop with a knife than look at a full sink of dishes. I usually chose what will be the easiest to wash which means that more often than not, the appliances stay nicely displayed on my shelf.
But every once and a while, when I really need it, I am really glad I have an app for that.
